Kehinde Wiley: Peintre de l'épopée accompanies the artist's solo exhibition at Centre d’art La Malmaison, Cannes, France (July 10 - November 1, 2020.) Drawing inspiration from the Old Masters, from Titian and Gainsborough to Van Dyck and Ingres, Kehinde Wiley: Peintre de L'Épopée presents a uniquely political and aesthetic perspective, making visible history’s invisible figures, allowing the viewer to engage with the notions of perception as it pertains to power and place.
Curated by Numa Hambursin, this major retrospective brings together more than 30 paintings covering a decade of Kehinde Wiley’s practice, including his acclaimed The World Stage series. The exhibition marks the first major survey of the artist’s work in France.
Numa Hambursin is an author, art critic and curator specializing in contemporary art.
