Showcasing important and new works from the gallery, our Armory 2022 presentation brings together eleven artists—seminal figures alongside emergent voices—who trace the influence of renewal and resilience across generations. New and recent works also challenge the dichotomy between the individual and the collective, with a focus on vibrant, inclusive practices that have taken root and flourished over the last few years. A variety of media will be on view, including painting, assemblage, and sculpture, by Amoako Boafo, Daniel Crews-Chubb, Lenz Geerk, Jeffrey Gibson, Ruth Ige, Wangari Mathenge, Collins Obijiaku, Otis Kwame Kye Quaicoe, Taylor White, and Kehinde Wiley. Also on view will be a significant historical assemblage by renowned artist Betye Saar, incorporating symbolic relics and personal elements to explore her interest in magic, mystery, and memory.
