Eduardo Abaroa’s exhibition includes a compilation of drawings on accounting book pages. Each page has a number in red which is also the amount of drops of glue on that page. Number one has one drop, number seventeen has seventeen drops, number 200 has 200 drops, etc. There are 200 of these drawings separated in several discrete groups. The spherical, shiny finish of the glue drops has to do with the surface tension of the fluid which becomes solid when temperature drops. The work’s relation to accounting comes to mind when we realize that the drawings are the expression of a precarious balance. Another relevant focus of the works is the translation of written numbers into a visual sensation of quantity.
